Knippen, plakken en re-assembleren is Dujardin’s lijfpraktijk die hij zowel in zijn fotomontages als in zijn sculp- turaal werk hanteert. Omsloten door zijn materialen geeft hij zich over aan hun essentie. Het materiaal wordt verbrijzeld, vervormd en ontleed voordat het proces van reconstructie en opnieuw in elkaar zetten kan worden voortgezet. Op dezelfde manier als in zijn fotomontages, omvatten de objecten van Filip Dujardin een gelijkaardige bewerking van materialen en structuren. Met deze gedachte bevatten beide een vergelijkbare kunsthistorische gelaagdheid.

Filip Dujardin is kunsthistoricus en architectuurfotograaf. In zijn eerste fotografisch artistieke werk, Fictions, experimenteerde Dujardin met de limieten van de architectuur door middel van digitale fotomontage. Sinds 2015 werkt hij aan de kunsthistorische serie Memorial, waarin hij dezelfde werkwijze hanteert, maar nu fotografische montages maakt met kunsthistorische iconografieën. Sinds 2012 vertaalt Dujardin zijn fotografisch werk in ruimtelijke installaties op publieke en private plaatsen. Zijn autonoom werk werd opgenomen in diverse collecties zoals The Metropolitan Museum of Art , het MoMA van New York en San Francisco, The Chazen Museum of Art in Madison, Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi en andere.

To cut, paste and re-assemble is the main focus in the work of Filip Dujardin, both in his photomontages and in his sculptural work. Enclosed by his materials, he surrenders himself to their essence. The material is shattered, distorted and dissected before the process of reconstruction and re-assembling can proceed. In the same way as in his photomontages, the objects of Filip Dujardin comprise a similar adaptation of materials and structures. With this idea, both contain a comparable art historical stratification.

Filip Dujardin is art historian and architectural photographer. In his first photographic work, Fictions, he experimented with the limits and boundaries of architectural constructions by using digital assemblage methods. Ever since 2015 he’s working towards the art- historical series Memorial, in which he handels with the same systems in order to use photomontage with art historical iconographics. From 2012 on Dujardin translates his photographic work into public installations and private places. His works is part of different collections among which: the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Moma in New York and San Franscisco, The Chazen Museum of Art in Madison and Musée de la Photographie in Charleroi.
Studied History of Art at the University of Ghent, specialized in architecture.
Studied photography at the Royal Academy of Ghent.
2007 : works as an independent photographer for private and public clients, in the field of architecture.
